Read as many books as you possibly can, especially by dead people.
Walk a lot, if at all possible, and not just in beautiful places.
Ask yourself “Is this the simplest and most direct way to say what I’m trying to say?” then, when you think it definitely is, ask yourself the same question twice more.
Make sure you have a cat nearby to sneer at you and bring you back down to earth any time you’re pleased with something you’ve written.
Don’t pay any attention to writing tips on the internet.
