Since I began pursuing writing tabletop RPG material to publish (so this would be mid-2022), I’ve learned more about myself and the industry - including meeting some really great folks. I’m one of those folks who reflects at the end of the year, asking myself (1) if I’m happy and (2) if I’m spending my time and energy doing what I really need and want to do in this life. Some brief conclusions I’ve reached so far:
I don’t like making game mechanics.
I like telling stories and making adventures. Always have.
Recently getting back to art - and the janky way I draw - man, I’ve missed how this feels.
I hate marketing and promoting myself. I don’t need pity, and I also don’t think I’m the best. I just want to share so I can connect with others.
There are other aspects I still need to weigh for my future self and the journey forward.
Bottom Line: I don’t know if Watch Well Games will continue or change. I never aimed to make this a career. I just wanted an outlet finally after many years of taking care of IRL responsibilities. I still hope to form a coalition of creators who want to build a community.
What about where you are now and where you want to go next?
