I’m obsessed with transposing vectors of “ideas” to different multidimensional planes, such as, if you choose correct axes, Dostoevsky was really writing Christian Romantasy, because {supernatural cosmology, moral quest, emotional maximalism} is closer to Romantasy than to whatever "Russian Realism" is supposed to mean. For example, the Devil in Karamazovs might be a hallucination but also a homoerotic one? what is it if not a seduction scene? look at how he shows up in Ivan's room all dressed fancy-shmancy AND THEN Ivan immediately starts negging him: "You are a lie, you are my illness, you are a phantom", “you’re not real” + “please stay” like what (?) for real, queen? Ivan feels awkwardness, he’s embarrassed by the Devil, then he genders Devil’s gestures as “womanly” and says things like "I should like to believe in you" which is the most erotic line in Russian literature by the by. It's hard to live with this knowledge, I know, but you have to otherwise you're a coward
