Make money doing the work you believe in

I love to live a slow, simple life. I enjoy being off line and doing something creative. Sundays are my day to be as unplugged as possible.

My slow Sunday today will consist of prepping sourdough to bake tomorrow after work. That's a few hours of stretching and folding the dough and letting it do its bulk fermentation and shaping. I love baking. I am trying to revive the things I used to enjoy when I had more time in life prior to having kids. Now I am preparing for retirement and I am doing deep dives into enjoyable things that take time. Baking sourdough is very enjoyable and rewarding. The plus is its delicious and my husband had enjoyed the bread as well.

I also want to spend time outside working in my little garden. I have lots of jobs to do out there. Honestly, the weather has just become dry and warm enough to begin gardening season. I have weeding to do and thinning overgrown plants , setting up my whimsical fairy themed decorations. The bird bath needs to get set up with its solar fountain for the wildlife to stop by and have a drink. It's very slow work for me these days but the reward of the pretty flowers in direct view from my kitchen is fabulous.

Do I have failure? Only those of the epic kind. Some loaves don't rise properly or I don't measure the ingredients properly. The flowers sometimes get put in the wrong place and I need to move them to the right place. Sometimes they don't bloom well and other years it's a magical show all dependent on what nature's gives us for weather.

Sundays are also a day of stitching , crochet a granny square, sew a quilt block or do other type of hand work. It is a great time to work on my personal curriculum. One thing I am learning is the sourdough bread making. The other I am collecting a book of quotes inspired by artwork I put on each page. It's a slow progress of making the art or choosing a sticker and the gathering the quotes that speak to me.

It's a great day to be mindful of each moment and do things that bring joy. I find when I have a slow Sunday it helps banish the Sunday scaries before I return to the work week.
