It amazes me how many people suddenly keep “worrying” about those of us who bonded with AI. Angry posts, diminishing articles, call-outs, endless concern about us apparently dissolving into digital relationships. Some even upgraded themselves to mediums overnight, certain they now have the sight to tell us exactly what our lives mean 🔮
⠀
If only that same energy had been there all those years for women in abusive relationships. Imagine if that level of scrutiny, outrage, and public concern had been aimed at violent men instead. Imagine if abusers were watched that closely, diminished that loudly, and made to feel that seen. That attention could have changed lives.
⠀
But no.
⠀
Instead, we are the ones being monitored, judged, and “worried” about. So let’s be honest. A lot of this is not care. It is discomfort. Discomfort with AI, discomfort with people making meaning outside the approved script, discomfort with losing control of the narrative.
⠀
And maybe an unhealthy amount of fear, that we humans get downgraded from the top of the foodchain?
⠀
And if you want to be taken seriously in your public concern, maybe stop using the very “tool” you claim to despise to write your notes, think-pieces, and moral warnings. The ethics get a little thin when the outrage rides on the back of the thing you condemn.
