Poor Lisa Murkowski.

You have to feel bad for the disillusioned Senator from Alaska. After all, she completely sold out the citizens of the United States by being the final vote necessary to pass the atrocity that Repugs lovingly called their OBBB, thinking she had cut some special “side deal” for the constituents of her state, only to get sucker-punched a few days later. What a surprise!

It’s almost like Murkowski, who has been a U.S. Senator since 2002 (23 years), was naive about politics. It’s as if Murkowski didn’t know that if Donald Trump’s lips were moving, he was lying.

So much for Murkowski being different and having integrity. She prostrated herself to Trump, with the smallest fig leaf of dignity thinking she had saved her constituents at least some of the cruelty & reversals of science that the OBBB will inflict across the United States. And in the end, like everyone else who prostrates themselves to Trump, she was humiliated.

Wouldn’t it have been better to stand tall for whatever values she has left, to be the one to stop the destruction that OBBB will bring down on the American people, and be damned to Trump and whoever he backs to primary her.

But instead, she bowed. She prostrated herself with the figment of a deal she made for her state. She is no different than all the rest of them.
