This Coffee Klatch with Robert Reich and Heather Lofthouse is uplifting, encouraging, and inspiring. Reich’s coda that covers about the last four minutes is beyond excellent. But the entire discussion provides hope, tips for action, and in particular emphasizes the fact that the DHS/ICE appropriations bill has not been passed. It comes up very soon, so, beginning after Dr. King’s Day, we all must be on the phone with our entire congressional delegation telling them in no uncertain terms that we expect them to pass a much smaller budget with several serious limitations on the behaviors of ICE. Reich lays out a list, but above all ICE must be subject to prosecution for unlawful behaviors. They can be disarmed, and the areas where they can operate can be limited. Please be an activist and speak sternly to Congress. They are ours; we are not theirs!
