And many of the Poles who did hide Jews did so mainly for financial payoff...not out of principle. Many painful ethical dilemmas lie in that not-so-distant past. What bothers me about the Real Pain movie is how hard it works to avoid those dilemmas and discussions, to avoid the question of Jews and Poles altogether. Instead we get a buddy-comedy with the Holocaust as its interesting backdrop, like the White Lotus changing locations every season but essentially telling the same story....
