What will be the next change in scope in psychology? And will that give us a paradigm? While I am not sure it will give us a paradigm as solid as the hard sciences, my bet is on “psychology and context.”

Without an understanding of context, we can't even define replication. And without understanding context, I don't believe we can understand the fundamental nature of causality or agency. For me, context is the missing piece of the puzzle

And of course, it won't just be context, but the interaction of context with the human mind. Because unlike computers, human minds are not so self-contained. The whole idea behind 4E psychology, for example, is that you can't study the brain as the brain, but have to understand it in context with the rest of the body and environment.

Perhaps when we understand thinking not as a type of computation, but as more like a murmur of starlings dynamicly interacting with its environment, we will finally have a psychological paradigm.
