I love Nietzsche but regard it as a shameful indulgence, destructive, and often mistaken, but he writes very well and invites us all on a deadly adventure. I advise against that thrilling though it be.
I feel badly that I can’t work up the proper enthusiasm for Herodotus Polybius Pliny: though these are so well revered that it’s me not you.
