Growing New Leaders: Perspectives from Coyote Run Farm

Day 74 of POTUS 47. Republicans are breaking it. Democrats will have to fix it. And it starts NOW. We need to expand capacity at progressive non-profits, in campaigns, with state and local Democratic parties, by doubling down in the business community by hiring the very kind of people Republicans are intentionally diminishing and attacking, and by supporting new faces to run for offices at every level of government. Leaders on the left need to immediately start hiring the new leaders who can do the political work now and the work of governing to come. Restacking my first column on Day 2 of Trump fiasco. We’re all in this together and we can only get out of it by working together.

Even if you don’t farm, we all participate in agriculture as we buy, use, and make public investments in what American farmers and ranchers raise and grow. Even if you don’t live in rural America, we all need to build the literal and figurative bridges that will bring us together. Growing a team of new progressive leaders across the entire American landscape is the work ahead for all of us. Expanding progressive leadership everywhere is the key to a hopeful and abundant future.
