Yes, I agree this is a real problem. Perhaps people would prefer not to hear this, but if any of these “masters” that you are following are taking money, they are not real masters and you are being led by someone who has no true realization. YouTube is full of these false masters. Eckhart Tolle is one of such and I believe in the end will be shown to be the fraud that he is. I heard that his accumulated wealth for his teachings is somewhere north of 15 million. That was an estimate from some years ago. I am sure it is much greater now.
Zen has a saying, “ Those who say, do not know, and those who know, do not say.” This is correct.
If you want true instruction go to the caves above Dharmsala and talk to the monks that have been in retreat for 30 years or visit the wandering monks in the mountains of Nepal. Skip the Eckhart Tolles and self proclaimed you tube realized masters.
This is a very insightful observation by Eric Hoffer that applies to spiritual teachers in the west that I think is worth considering:
