The above Triggernometry interview with Richard Miniter was an eye opener regarding American voting patterns. He can trace voting patterns not to DNA ‘tribes’ but to the religious wars in England and the areas of the UK that supported the different warring factions, and where in the States these groups eventually settled. This would at the very least suggest that if not DNA, then culture can indeed echo down the subsequent generations in ways that the current political landscape can reveal.
