Oh I’ve never heard of the Red Sands cookbook! I must track that one down. Reading your post reminded me that I also had pen pals when growing up and I wonder how they are now. I unfortunately lost touch with them both. One lived in Scotland, the other was from Japan. The Japanese pen pal actually came to visit me when I was in high school and stayed with us for a few days!
