Something about Rachel Drucker’s NYT piece “Men, Where Have You Gone? Please Come Back.” doesn’t sit right with me. I’m not sure if it’s the author’s request that men change their behavior while simultaneously showing a total lack of curiosity re: the causes of the supposed problem she’s identifying, or the fact that she might be mistaking a problem in her social circles for a more general one, or the annoying use of therapy-speak, or the author’s apparent ignorance as to how a significant number of men are likely to interpret what she’s saying. There’s just something totally clueless about the whole thing.
