The suica card is one of the existing transit cards in the Apple wallet. I am in the US and I added money to my suica using Apple Pay which is convenient and I did not have to use the suica app. I am eager to give it a try in Japan when I arrive.

A hint to anyone trying to add money and it won't work- nightly maintenance shuts the system down from 2-4am local time so if you're in the US trying to add money during that window in Japan it won't work. Wait and it will :)

Thanks for the info! I'm soon to travel to Japan and I'm trying to learn some handy tips and the suica or pasmo card seems to be a certainly important one.
