“Farm workers amnesty” is just a bone. They’re only about 1% of the total, and most of them are here legally, under contract. They’re also a shrinking factor as very few crops are still hand-picked (fragile fruit like strawberries. Even tomatoes are now machine-picked.)

What’s important is cutting “benefits” as absent the various handouts, most couldn’t afford to live in the U.S. If we want a real drop in total illegals, we need to get most of them to self-deport, because it’s just not practical to round up tens of millions of people.
