I love the idealism of your article. It's difficult, though, to compare a massive, diverse country like the U.S. to smaller countries. The balance of self- interest with the greater good for society relies on cultural and global integrity, which seems to be absent in the U.S. White supremacy undermines the greater good. Fascist leanings destroy opportunity and the foundation of capitalism. The rebirth of our history of extreme cruelty toward black and brown people is ripping open old wounds and justifying hatred and cruelty towards people that are different. A government that encourages division among the citizens as a smoke screen to divert attention away from the atrocities they are committing against the people is abhorrent. Oligarchs hoarding more money than they can possibly spend to gain more power while employees live in poverty isn't working. A presidential office that relies on a president that embraces integrity isn't working. That's why regulation steps in... and that's not working because the regulators are spreading their corrupton everywhere. The guardrails are gone because our president doesn't even respect our Constitution and we have lost our checks and balances in our government. We now function on unchecked bribery, threats, and fear with hatred and cruelty leading the way. Your article gave me a small shred of hope that maybe, somehow, things will turn around.
