There’s going to be a birthday party tonight. The decision was finally nailed down last night. Everyone cleared their schedules. Even the birthday guy is almost too busy to celebrate.
The Walmart grocery pickup is set for 2 o’clock— the earliest time slot available, because grocery shopping on Monday morning just doesn’t seem fun to me.
Will that give me enough time to make the burgers, macaroni and cheese, and seven-layer salad before the 6 o’clock event? If I make the cake this morning, I might be able to pull it off.
Now, I see I’m missing one ingredient for the cake: a can of mandarin oranges. Oh no! This is turning into a Monday morning! Poor Monday has a bad reputation.
I’m not confident I can make a cake, the burgers, macaroni and cheese, and seven-layer salad before the 6 o’clock event after the 2 o’clock grocery pick up.
A call to my dear neighbor proves fruitless. Literally. Alas, she also has no mandarin oranges.
I was wishing to make the cake in the quietness of my Monday morning and the comfort of my pajamas. But now I will need to comb my hair and get dressed, including all the mandatory undergarments…. and shoes, and go to the store to find some mandarin oranges.
Wish me luck, because tonight, my son will pull up after a long day at work. And we will be having a birthday party.
Happy Monday, everyone.
