THIS IS SO GOOD. In the spirit of solidarity, when I was 14 I was not creative enough to invent an actual drug habit BUT I did try to write an ‘edgy drug novel’ in my school rough book, set in New York. (I’d read Bright Lights, Big City and half of American Psycho and I was not going to let the fact that I lived in the middle of a farming community in Dorset stop me from telling the truth about the mean urban streets…)
