People often conflate values and beliefs. I honestly didn’t think any youth would actually care what I said but that Neelam found my rants about helpful in steering clear of bullshit is deeply gratifying. Values, indeed, aren’t beliefs. I ask people often about the difference. Many women hold opinions as values and think a woman changing her mind about the sisterhood is a personal attack. Many men, too, of course do this, but I care far more about the false consciousness among women. I often wonder whether writing matters but I usually get a sign from the universe that it does.
