Great article and thanks for that book reference. The challenge is that the true measure of human communication is ‘Where am I coming from?’ So a leader who truly wants to unite a nation can (co-)create that nationwide narrative and would bring everyone together around that shared story. There are other leaders who want to offer a compelling narrative for just enough people to get them into power. And then they can use that same narrative to drive deeper separation.
