I read this and thought about this overnight. As a white guy myself, I’ve had these same critiques of these same shuyūkh, and I think your argument would be augmented by looking at the intersectionality between class and whiteness. Sh Webb and I don’t come from a wealthy background. Hamza Yusuf, Yahya Rhodus, etc come from more privileged backgrounds. I grew up in Minneapolis, where the majority of Muslims are Black and Black radicalism and Islam are intertwined. The anti-colonial struggle and Islam are inseparable in that environment.
