I made very similar comments recently re whether there is a need. I love using trams here and abroad and don’t necessarily feel they are an old-fashioned solution however, when there is already a connecting bus route between hospitals that goes door to door as opposed to the preferred tram route using the Roseburn path which would mean patients having to get off and walk further I fail to see patient benefit.
I live near Crewe Toll - Granton is well-connected by bus currently to Crewe Toll and Crewe Toll to town and south. More electric buses (the bus routes are well-used) and fixed potholes with better cycle lanes would make a huge difference and keep people out of cars. I can’t see why I’d choose to walk over to the Roseburn Path and take a less direct route to the centre, than take the bus.
The Southern railway suggestion by the university students last year could make use of infrastructure already in place.
The suggestions around place-making eg Pilrig park could be done to enhance people’s living areas could be done without having to have trams going through it.
As for the Bridges
How can we even be at consultancy stage when we don’t know how it’s going to be funded?
