I agree and that’s why I want to bring disruption into the school system. Have you read Tony Wagner’s book? I read them about 10 years ago. My boys’ school superintendent tried to follow him and ended up creating a library that looked like a garden and plenty of computers! I was aghast! Nobody bothered to even read the books that the superintendent brought to us as the parent group to think about how to get the school to do better! I felt anguished!
I wanted to become a superintendent and do something better for the schools. But then I realized, even this guy couldn’t get the parents or the board to do basic reading of a book! I was a nobody! Just another parent shouting in the wild with no listeners!
I see the same anguish in your words. We need to do something better for our children. Their confidence is eroding faster than a toilet flush! I get it. But what do we do? How do we help them? Do you have any working plans? Where do we start?
