Thank you for the prompt. ‘Innervisions’ it’s so different in tone to ‘Isn’t She Lovely,’ although he’s always working with a sophisticated harmonic palette isn’t he?’ I love that ‘Living in the City’ is driving and insistent, but after the gritty feel of the verse, which is so compelling, the jazzy bridge sounds meandering and ends inconclusively to me - but it’s a startling change and adventurous. Maybe, if given another decade or so, I’ll change my mind.
