I’m thinking tribal North American Indians like the Iroquois used to have the women sharing the child-rearing chores while the men hunted or lounged. Irish women couldn’t have been much different, or Sub-Saharan Africans, for that matter, before industrial civilization. Now we’ve got to get away with whatever we can, and I always manage to appreciate the fine looks and behavior of kids and pets I see with their female guardians.
