I recently read a piece here on substack, but I can’t remember who wrote it, about buying an RV. The person bought a used RV, the kind that has it’s own engine, not one you tow.

They made a big mistake in not having a professional inspect it before they bought it, and not getting everything in writing. The RV looked wonderful and was very upscale in appearance and they thought it was a great deal (about 30,000 USD, I think) But it ended up having a slew of hidden problems. They spent some huge amount of money getting many issues fixed and having it towed and having to rent hotels while waiting for repairs, only to find in the end that the thing was literally a death trap and not repairable.

So, while I have no experience of my own to share, I would suggest only deal with reputable dealers, be sure to have a qualified professional inspect anything you plan to buy before signing anything, and get everything, especially warranty information IN WRITING.
