I was told by a member of a women’s lay apostolate promoted by ICKSP that it was a sin to speak anything unkind about the Pope regardless of what he did. This was at a public meeting. Say nothing out of respect of the position the he or any religious holds as it is only for God to correct. It’s like living in “The emperor’s new clothes”. My professional background is in child welfare. The worst of the crimes against children were often by those who knew abuse was happening but refused to address it. Excuses would abound and some excuses were compelling. However it is still not justified as it allowed the innocent children to continue to suffer. Our spiritual fathers must defend their children. Silence is complicity.
