Dr. Marik and I are wary of concentrated and bioavailable curcumin's small but definite risks for hepatitis which is why we add the cautions in our monograph. I personally would avoid highly concentrated formulations unless you and your physician feel the benefit outweighs the small risk of hepatitis [usually if you are treating active cancer]. From my perspective, if your goal is simply to prevent cancer, then you may wish to avoid piperine/curcumin combinations and keep lower in the dose. My personal choice is currently Nanocur, one tablet per day. However, that may change in the future. From a prevention standpoint, I tend to favor food whenever possible over supplements.
