The app for independent voices

Yes! One of the core properties of self-organization beyond the state is the emergence of value-aligned goals: an ad-hoc predictive model of a world that ought to exist, but for structural reasons does not yet. Enslaved people moving toward freedom, the stateless seeking protection, undocumented migrants pursuing belonging. These movements become effective by actively detecting and reducing prediction errors between experience and the world they know should be possible.

In this context, social values function as vectors for action. Aligned goals reveal vulnerabilities, demand at least one contingent pathway, and require the ability to collaborate with asymmetrically positioned actors. They also enable individuals and groups to frame their actions as expressions of the society articulated in their grand narrative (referring to the commitments embedded in a Declaration of Independence, for example).
