“Don’t look for the self interest of Musk and Bezos or Ackman to prevail. They will probably just try to flee.”
This is where we disagree. Latin America gives a glimpse into how the uber wealthy will respond: death squads, assassinations and private militias. The United States and Canada are unique in that they have almost universally exposed infrastructure due to their vastness and very little security for judges and elected officials and other managers. The anarcho part is easy and we are into that stage now. The tyranny part is by far the most difficult, and it requires a modicum of competency, which dissipates daily.
This probably doesn’t help us at all, mind you, other than the pending instability will make it hard to focus on terrorizing the kulaks. Warning flares are being shot with admonitions that failure to invest in AI, i.e., produce more electricity, means the economy will halve and collapse. This means less SNAP and more pop. Jeff and Bill and Elon will get their power one way or the other. The political and legal protectors of Juan and Ramesh and Li can’t stop that resource preference but can try to appropriate Chad’s food and shelter. So who is Chad going to serve?
