I had an imagining, a wishful hope, at one point that placed institutions within a purpose. Such as safeguarded belonging or cooperative inquiry, or resilient growth. I have at times reimagined all of society into three parts or three purposes; one was sustainability/survival, the other was relational, and the last, adaptation/exploration. And I mean the governing bodies and the relation between them being cooperative and not antagonistic. But I also thought all institutions could align behind a purpose.
I felt a mirroring of some of my own thoughts within what you said.
In my current interest, myopia and forcing function are concepts that explain/capture a lot of what I've been focusing on/parsing.
I liked this reflection.
I believe that expertise and also the word gatekeeping are running into a systems problem. And I am interested in exploring how organizations, governments, and businesses could root themselves in sustainability-survival/stewardship/prudence, relation/dignity/care, and exploration-adaptation/integrity/truth-seeking, the primary need domains and their corresponding commitments and means.
