From what I understand the really big frauds in Medicare have come from large providers gaming the system. One of the biggest frauds was committed by the for profit Columbia HCA with Florida’s Rick Scott as CEO.
But my favorite was the huge Medicare fraud committed by Florida’s mob connected Miguel Recarey. Recarey had the help of Jeb Bush. Jeb personally lobbied his dad’s HHS secretary Margaret Heckler to get permission for Recarey’s healthcare system to be allowed more Medicare business than was permitted.Jeb repeatedly lied about lobbying for Recarey but Bush’s Heckler confirmed the story. Recarey proceeded to bilk Medicare out of hundreds of millions then fled the country when he got caught.
Funny how the media has chosen to ignore this blatant example of a president’s kid trading on the family name. I guess it only matters if a Democrat’s kid does it.
