The best way to deal with most antisemites, antizionists, or Judeophobes in 2025 is to explain that antizionism is no better or worse than Nazism.
It seems to be working. The Movement Against Antizionism is barely a month old and has taken Jewish advocates tired of organisational ineptitude by storm across all continents.
We spent too long trying to convince too many people that their “antizionism” was “actually antisemitism”.
This failed, and it also demonstrated that even we believed antizionism to be somehow more acceptable than antisemitism. We associate antisemitism with Nazism and the Holocaust.
But most were never taught about antizionism’s purging of Jews from the Middle East and Eastern Europe for decades post-Holocaust. You were taught to believe, from Yale to Yemen, blue hair to “hide-your-hair”, that this relentless crusade against the Jewish state fell under the same umbrella as the movement that gassed our grandparents.
This has given antizionists an out—a get-out-of-jail-free card, a licence to spread libel.
We lumped everyone’s crimes against us into the Nazis’ bucket, labelling antizionism as “antisemitism” because this is the word we were taught had a monopoly on Jew-hate.
But no generation, no word, no continent, nor movement has a monopoly on anti-Jewish conspiracy and hatred.
Judeophobia. Antisemitism. Antizionism. All reflect contextually salient ways to hate Jews in the name of social justice.
Millions of Jews were uprooted, many becoming Zionists as the result of “anti-Zionist” purges. Take Poland, 1968–71, for example: 14,000 Jews purged. The reason—antizionism.
Antizionism is a hate movement. We don’t need to convince self-identified “antizionists” that they’re antisemites.
We just need to treat “antizionism” as the dirty word that it is: yet another system of libels, no more reasonable than Nazism.
Antizionism is a word legitimised by libel in the very same way antisemitism is. It is a blight of the 20th and 21st centuries.
It must be spoken about with clarity. It must be dealt with appropriately.
