When I lived in Costa Rica, what you say about most of the psychedelic centres being owned and run by gringos with little connection to the local economy or culture ... could just as well be said about every other gringo owned business there. Gringos live in their bubbles... except when it suits them to hire Ticos for housekeeping and yard maintenance. There are the
entreprenurial Ticos with grocery stores where we shopped. But mostly everything else was gringo-related. Thank god that CR has minimum wage, a comprehensive social security system (pensions and disability) and universal health insurance. Otherwise, they'd be hugely taken advantage of.
