Thank you so much for sharing. I spoke to a therapist for a few weeks… I didn’t like her.

She exclusively relied on CBT, and would often refer me to those practices. When I insisted that I’m familiar with the concept and it does not work she assumed I was ignorant…

I’m tired of doctors assuming they have some intellectual upper hand, meanwhile I live in this body and mind and I know myself better than they ever could. It’s complete arrogance…

Furthermore, she would white lie to me all the time, including the time that she came to a session and magically told me I was healed… when I reached out in crisis three weeks later she said “sorry I’m leaving the company so I need to pair you with someone else.” Which leads me to believe that she didn’t want to match me with anyone else, so she lied and said how healed and thriving I am now while my life was falling apart.

Now that I’m thinking about it… all of this is neurotypical behavior. Maybe she is the one who should be analyzed and criticized.

😩 it’s exhausting, and this is why I tell people it’s so important to find the right therapist, not just any professional who is labeled as a therapist. Thankfully the person I was matched with after this was a great match and really helped me out.
