I’m with Lyle. I’m not worried about Downtown. We have a huge group of people working hard to keep it vibrant. And I’m confident the Board and staff are all in harmony as to the value of our Downtown, and the need to continue this work. And the landowner at SoCo has already received expressions of interest in the space formerly known as Havoc, or Roadhouse, or General Store Cafe, or Justice Motors.
I can also add a minor correction, @ by Mark Barroso: Nothing will be “leveled” or bulldozed anytime soon, certainly not the ABC store nor the firehouse. While yes, they were included in the recent “pre-development / redevelopment” study of public lands in Downtown, they were added to the study to see if anyone has inspired ideas for higher or better uses of those spaces. Everyone should be clear — our firehouse and ABC store are very much in-use, and valued, as they are. We’re just keeping an open mind!
Thanks for writing about Pittsboro’s Downtown, Mark!
