Update on the Ukraine Sea War

Ukraine scored a new achievement in the Sea War with Russia. It's “Sub Sea Baby” underwater drones were able to damage a missile-carrying Russian submarine. The drone reached its target at a port Russia had considered “out of reach,” likely indicating that the drones also had greater range. The accomplishment was location verified by Reuters, and the Ukrainian Security Service had video of the explosion.

Russia denied that any vessel in port had been damaged.

The diesel-electric sub could carry 4 cruise missiles of the type Russia has been using to destroy Ukraine’s power grid.

This significant win came on the day Trump joined a phone call with Zelenskyy and European leaders to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine. It provided evidence to counter the Putin-talking point that Ukraine was losing the war.

This is another example of Ukrainian-engineered and built, relatively inexpensive, innovative technology capable of disabling far larger and more costly vessels. Ukraine’s strategy has allowed it to be maximally effective while minimizing casualties.

Ukraine said on Monday it hit and disabled a Russian missile-carrying submarine docked at a Black Sea naval base using underwater sea drones for the first time, but Moscow denied the strike caused any damage.

The attack with Ukrainian-made "Sub Sea Baby" drones hit the submarine in the port of Novorossiysk where Russia has rebased many of its Black Sea naval vessels to put them out of reach of Ukrainian strikes, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said.

Footage published by the SBU showed a powerful explosion erupting from the water at a pier near where a submarine and other vessels were docked. Reuters confirmed the location of the video using the port's layout and piers.

Ukraine has almost no conventional naval forces left, but the undersea drones they have developed have been extremely effective in actions againt the Russian Navy, forcing the Russian fleet to relocate from Sebastopol in Crimea to Novorossiysk in Southern Russia.
