Make money doing the work you believe in

My mum is staying with us at our little country house for a few nights. It’s only three bed, and we have three kids, so someone usually gives their bed up for nanna and then we all share (we’re used to sharing).

Usually, my eldest daughter (8) gives her bed up and sleeps on a play lounge on the floor.

Tonight I overheard her say to my husband “mum always says to respect your elders, so Nanna can have my bed.”

She is the best. And also, a typical eldest daughter. As an eldest daughter myself I try to appreciate her natural responsible nature but also ensure she knows that not all burdens are hers to carry.

I want her to be a more carefree and joyful eldest daughter than I was as a kid.
