Trump's Push to Buy Greenland 2.0: Acquiring a Nation is Complicated

The Trump administration is back to eyeing Greenland. This could be beneficial to the U.S., but there are some major considerations:

1️⃣ Greenland should retain autonomy. Greenlanders must be on board. Greenland is its own nation and distinct people.

2️⃣ Immigration Control: Greenland must have autonomy over its immigration policy. See American Samoa: it's very difficult for any non-ethnic Samoan to buy land or become a permanent resident there.

3️⃣Economic Development: Greenland could benefit immensely from American investment and it is home to the largest confirmed deposits of rare earth minerals on the planet. This could free the U.S. from dependence on Chinese rare earth metal production.

✅Greenland is its own nation and distinct people, but a serious proposal could be mutually advantageous. Trump could do this without antagonizing our civilizational brothers in Europe.
