Fascinated to see I briefly cracked 51st and rising in the History category on Substack today, but I’m not buying champagne yet.
Truth is this is a global website and most of the world is not interested in my focus, which is Australian history.
If I wanted to be number 1 I would rant obsessively about how Donald Trump is the Antichrist, but that would be both true and boring.
Plus, I think the Substack algothirim favours sites which attract paid subscribers, as I did today (thank you) since that's how Substack gets paid, and not many people will pay to read Australian history, so that's how it is.
Anyway thanks all for your support.
Lots of interesting reports coming up.
This week I’ve completed the Victorian gold rush and the Eureka Rebellion and I’m currently working on Ned Kelly.
But before that comes a series on WA, the founding of Melbourne and a series of often disastrous inland explorations, including Burke and Wills and Ludwig Leichardt.
Australian history really is fascinating.
Hope you’re enjoying it as much as me.
