Brilliant. I have been pondering the very same thing: How come nobody dares question MS Word as the core canvas/repository? Inertia is a very powerful thing (even more so in a profession that is naturally risk averse), but the greater opportunity for disruption will certainly appear once we’re able to unbundle the semantic layer of commitments/safeguards-clauses from the envelope that gives a selection of those a specific business purpose. We’ve had boilerplate clauses (and macros, then XML) for decades, but (to the best of my understanding) they were never treated as logic rather than language. I guess those two things are now one and the same.
