I love this article about your musical journey- I feel like the way you describe your feasts and famines of sounds is totally relatable. For me, raising kids in the early 2000s meant I wasn’t listening to any new music at all— but was providing them musical experiences appropriate to their development … until they began their own searching as teens.

I think every musical person has a story like this, and I’ve always felt like it’s such an elemental aspect of one’s personality— I think you can learn a lot about a person by asking them about their favorite musical artists and the genres with which they most closely identify.

I also loved that A-Ha track. And it also took me a long time to appreciate heavier sounds… I’m in a place now that craves old school jazz, blues, psychedelic rock, funk and I’m a big fan of this amazing composer in Norway who makes heavy hitting musical symphonies…
