I feel like there is a backlash coming in favor of physical media. Similar to the way vinyl improbably re-emerged in the face of a completely digital music future. I may be wishfully thinking, but I think the way you’re approaching publishing with the subscription box and physical items and - to use a maybe gross word - fetishization or collectibility as a component — well I think that’s smart. Easton Press sure sells their leather bound, gorgeous editions. While it’s niche, it’s also a business. I have been working on a piece about this very idea but so far keep running into the edit that it’s “sour grapes” - this post makes me want to revisit it.
