I got out of a 2.5 year relationship at the end of 2025 and he had approached me and the entire relationship with the date-to-marry mindset from the very jump. It was very exhaustive at times but we’d stick together because we were like “we’re committed to each other”. Toward the last few months I was miserable because I realized that the entire relationship was built on investing in some end goal (marriage) — but depriving ourselves of enjoyment in the present. We weren’t having ANY fun during the relationship towards the last year. There weren’t any dates, any gifts, no spontaneity, NO FLOWERS!! just FaceTime calls and lots of petty arguing. I got tired of staying in something that seemed to be going no where and only being joined together because we had this “mutual goal” that seemed to be eons away.
I’m focusing on myself right now but, when I start dating again (not anytime soon lol) I will be adopting this mindset. Thank you and please never delete this!
