This is absolutely long overdue. I feel like this issue needs to have women's groups pop up for teaching across the country. Workbooks and support groups. What the church fails to do, because of male-centered domination and centuries long hatred of the Jews, is to take the original languages in consideration when talking about male and female. In Genesis chapter 2 when Adams is being put to sleep and Eve comes forward, the Hebrew word for rib in those verses is Tsela. This word is translated into English as rib, as inside a little piece of and not complete. But that is not the original Hebrew conception of what Adam truly was. When mankind was created it says in Genesis that male and female he created them. In Jewish thought it is believed that the original Adam had a female side and a male side complete with genitalia, possibly two heads, possibly four arms and four legs. It is not impossible for it to have been that way. If we truly read the verses in the Bible where it describes angels, having many eyes, having six wings, and having two heads, the head of a bull the body of a man, the head of an eagle the body of a man, then it is not impossible to think that God created Adam as two halves conjoined. Because of the Greek and Roman societies that got a hold of scripture and translated it they snuck in their Concepts of hierarchy within family and Society. And God specifically warns in the Bible not to adopt the traditions of man not to adopt the thought processes and philosophies of pagan cultures. Sadly we did and this is the result.
