Voters deserve to hear, plainly, that when there’s credible evidence of wrongdoing, there will be investigations. Hearings shouldn’t be put on the back burner because party leadership is worried about how it polls. Abuses of power shouldn’t be brushed aside in the name of unity or civility. What comes after Trump will define this country more than Trump himself ever could. The real test isn’t just whether we win the next election. It’s whether we are willing to clean up what Trump leaves behind in a serious, sustained and uncompromising way.
