Our very ordinary senior secondary ( grammar school equivalent) had four ‘ houses’ for sport etc in the 50s and 60s- Matapan ( yellow) Atlantic ( red) Taranto ( blue) and I was in Natvik ( green.) No one ever bothered to explain that these had been WW2 naval battles or tell us anything about them, so this was very enlightening. My own father was in the Merchant Navy during the war - but never spoke about it.
