A reader told me that the reason he likes my writing is because it is inclusive and doesn’t alienate anyone. That was a lovely thing to hear.
What I want to do is share, for a moment, my unfiltered experiences, thoughts and opinions as a Japanese person. Unless you’re Japanese, you might not be able to relate to much of it, and that’s perfectly natural. Even so, after moments of surprise, discovery, or even shock, you may feel, even just a little, that you ‘understand’ or ‘resonate’.
A writer is always a reader’s friend. That doesn’t mean I’d be happy if you turned up unannounced at my flat in London (have you read Stephen King’s Misery?), but as long as you keep reading, my mental door is always open to you, absolutely no matter who you are. And I cherish that connection💗
